@bwebster What @bigzaphod wants to do should be possible; I've written a macro myself once that does just that, where you write the init yourself and put #synthesized or something where you want to insert the synthesized property initializations, like this:

init(from decoder: Decoder) throws {
#synthesized
self.derivedProperty = self.decodedProperty + 5
}
