I have often wondered about the authenticity of the code stored on the server side for some software like #Tutanota. It can be published of course but there's no way for the users to be sure the code is really used as is.

So I thought of an authentication system where clients read the server code at each connection to check if it has not been tampered, with a copy of the server code contained in the client.

Do you know if such an idea is already in use?
