Ginny Battson dives into the life-enhancing flow of fluminism – those multiple symbiotic processes that sustain all life

More on the human microbiome.

Scientists expand into the world of #symbioethics by creating projects and films to raise awareness and effect change.

But please remember, other life forms, upon whom we also depend, are facing the same problems due to human behaviours. #antibiotics #gutbrainaxis #symbiosis

I am honoured and grateful to have an abridged version of my essay "Home" featured in the latest copy of Britain's wonderful Resurgence Magazine (Jan/Feb issue) ~ themed Immersion. Thanks also to Gavin et all at the Center for Humans & Nature for their kindness in authorising permission.

Symling ~ a neologism

Great to see a *budding* AHRC-Kew funded plant humanities initiative. I too have work in this *field*.

:)

For instance, reflections on the astonishing symbiotic (and more) consciousness of plants, across species and down through generations. #pollination #symbioethics #strategies #DeepAdaptation #SpaceTime #EnvHum

@KateTeltscher very interesting, thank you. Strong part of my ecophilosophy too, particularly via the study of symbiosis. Upcoming chapter in Spanish on #Symbioethics, for instance. #TheFloweringMind
As an ecophilosopher and writer, I ask this of our modern Western culture... if the sym-ial is so fundamental to life and evolution, why do we continue to value individualism, unitisation, division, and competition/hierarchy between all as superior? Perhaps, just perhaps, this question is key to why daily life is, consequentially, in such disharmony with any flourishing biosphere. #symbioethics #climate #nature #ecophilosophy

As research for my upcoming pub on #symbioethics, I delved into the fascinating & crucial #EcoEvoDevo, a developing field of evolutionary biology - symbiosis (conscious or unconscious?) leading to significant so-called "environmental" reshaping and then natural selection of organisms at an evolutionary scale. I contend such species porosity itself erodes the anthropocentricities of the word "environment" - that it is something separate or other.

In life, "I" equates "we". A fundamental value.

Biden's latest tweet explains so much about global inequity and biospheric decline. The pride of it! Power/money/state... win/lose. It's not how nature truly sustains itself over generations and between species. Cooperation, collaboration, symbiotic mutualisms, and Ethics of Care are the dominant processes that are truly life-sustaining. Centre these behaviours instead. #values #welldoing #wellbeing #competition #cooperation #symbioethics #biosphere #climate #equity #Ecophilosophy #EthicsOfCare
Otter spraint, full of glittery fish scales, quietly degrades on the roots of an alder tree, which stabilises the riverbank against flood. A strong signal for both otters (territorial and route finding), and us, alike. #values #biosemiotics #WyeLove #shit #tracks #mammals #bacteria #insects #trees #rivers #climate #flooding #place #ecophilosophy #symbioethics
