How repeatable are the genomic outcomes of hybridization, and how much does natural selection drive such repeatability? This study of hybrid populations of swordtail fish reveals high repeatability due to strong selection in the earliest generations after initial hybridization; deeper evolutionary divergence results in stronger selection and higher repeatability.
Been trying to breed my vienna #swordtails for a few months without success. Did a pump filter cleaning today in the main pop tank and lo and behold what I found inside π
I've seen a handful of photos of red #ancistrus. usually the fish on such photos is a citrus orange or borderline yellow. It's one of the reasons why I never bothered getting some (LFS never carry). But since I'm currently collecting ancistrus, I had to get some of the red as well, and wow. I don't know if it's specifically my line, or if other photos just suck. But these are genuinely, actually, red! love it!
