Good morning, #WritingCommunity. I've done an overhaul of an old story of mine. Everything is rewritten, reworked, and updated. I even have a new chapter live now. Instead of a novel-length story, I've turned everything into a series of short stories. "Fated By Fire" is now the name of said series. I hope you guys enjoy the ride. 🤍

If you enjoy Fantasy and Sword & Sorcery tales, this might be the one for you. Reviews are always appreciated.

This is the story of one mystic's journey, finding himself trapped in a world of lies and deceit. Something dark is hiding in the shadows and must be brought to justice in order to the save Yül. Elric, one of our heroes, finds he's linked to another being by shared dreams. But why, and will they ever find one another?

New at my blog, a review of JANGAR!: Slaves of the Mind Mage, the first in a series of monthly Sword & Sorcery novelettes by Logan D. Whitney.

Familiar ingredients, but served up with gusto; JANGAR is an S&S snack!

(As always, boosts are appreciated!)

I’m currently reading “A Wizard of Earthsea” and have read a number of other similar books, yet I’ll never understand this fascination with “the true name” of things. Why do so many authors of sword and sorcery rely on this idea that wielding the name of things enables enchantment.

It’s not like this idea is a simple anachronism, S&S authors of various eras have used it. At least Ursula K. Le Guin’s plots aren’t nearly as predictable as those of Terry Goodkind, even if the mechanics and names are.
