TomFélix Vallotton (1865–1925) was a Swiss-born painter and printmaker, later naturalized French, known for his striking contrasts, psychological tension, and unwavering precision. A member of the Nabis group, Vallotton brought a sharp, often unsettling eye to bourgeois interiors, intimate nudes, and social scenes – always with an edge of irony or emotional ambiguity.
This exhibition at Kunstmuseum Winterthur reflects his unique synthesis of realism and symbolism, bold composition and flat colour planes. Whether through his woodcuts or oil paintings, Vallotton’s gaze is still quietly provocative a century on.

J'ai concentré mes recherches autour des symboles de la renaissance extravagante du Sacro Bosco, le parc des monstres dans les Jardins de Bomarzo en Italie. Dans ma liste des rêves et pour continuer de s'émerveiller autant qu'à être bousculée, je vais visiter ce lieu incroyable. Qui a déjà été ?
