Agi: Dilaga la Swatch-mania, file in tutto mondo per l'ultimo orologio

AGI - Migliaia di persone si sono messe in fila per giorni fuori dai negozi Swatch di tutto il mondo per accaparrarsi l'ultimo orologio da taschino della casa svizzera: il Royal Pop. Sulla rete sono diventate virali le immagini delle code chilometriche davanti alle vetrine degli store, da Londra a Osaka, da New York a Singapore.
Tale è stata la calca che in alcuni centri commerciali sono stati costretti a chiudere. È successo a Dubai in due mall. E la Swatch ha dovuto abbassare le saracinesche in tutti i punti vendita in tutto il Regno Unito, ha riferito la Bbc, "per ragioni di sicurezza".
La collaborazione con Audemars Piguet
Il Royal Pop è nato dalla collaborazione con l'orologiaio ben più esclusivo svizzero Audemars Piguet, come remake popolare dello storico (e ben più costoso) Royal Oak.

Si ispira alla pop-art e alle collezioni Swatch degli anni Ottanta, ed è disponibile in otto varianti, ciascuna in due diversi stili - Lepine o Savonnette - con cassa in bioceramic, materiale brevettato da Swatch "composto per due terzi da ceramica di alta qualità e per un terzo da materiale di origine biologica derivato dall'olio di ricino", come si legge sul sito della società.
Prezzi e rivendita online
Il prezzo di listino varia dai 385 ai 400 euro a seconda dei colori, ma online le quotazioni sono schizzate oltre i mille. Sempre secondo la Bbc, si arriverebbe anche a 20mila euro per il cofanetto con la serie completa.
La domanda supera l'offerta
E non è detto che la corsa sia finita qui visto che le richieste hanno di gran lunga superato le offerte. "Ci impegniamo al massimo per soddisfare la domanda e ci auguriamo che tutti i fan di questa collaborazione possano presto mettere le mani su uno di questi orologi", ha assicurato dal canto suo la Swatch su X.

Swatch - Thousands of people have been queuing for days outside Swatch stores around the world to get their hands on the brand's latest pocket watch: the Royal Pop. Viral images of the kilometer-long queues in front of the store windows, from London to Osaka, New York to Singapore, have spread online.

The crowds were so intense that some shopping centers were forced to close. This happened in two malls in Dubai. And Swatch had to lower the shutters in all its stores across the United Kingdom, the BBC reported, “for safety reasons.”

Collaboration with Audemars Piguet

The Royal Pop was born from a collaboration with the much more exclusive Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet, as a popular remake of the historic (and much more expensive) Royal Oak.

It draws inspiration from pop art and Swatch collections from the 1980s, and is available in eight variations, each in two different styles - Lepine or Savonnette - with a bioceramic case, a patented material by Swatch “composed for two-thirds from high-quality ceramic and for one-third from a biologically-derived material from castor oil,” as stated on the company’s website.

Prices and online resale

The listed price varies from €385 to €400 depending on the colors, but online prices have soared above €1,000. According to the BBC, prices could even reach €20,000 for the box set with the complete series.

Demand exceeds supply

And the race isn't over, given that demand has far exceeded supply. “We are doing our utmost to meet the demand and we hope that all fans of this collaboration can soon get their hands on one of these watches,” Swatch assured on X.

Il Fatto Quotidiano: Hantavirus, il tour italiano dell’inglese in isolamento a Milano: i suoi 17 giorni in giro per le città d’arte

Roma, Firenze, Venezia e Milano. Un tour lungo, circa una ventina di giorni, fino a quando martedì sera non è stato rintracciato in un bed&breakfast del capoluogo lombardo e portato all’ospedale Sacco, dove si trova in isolamento. È questa la mappa degli spostamenti del turista inglese, 60 anni, sottoposto a quarantena obbligatoria perché lo scorso 25 aprile si trova sul volo Sant’Elena-Johannesburg insieme alla donna olandese, moglie del “paziente zero” dell’hantavirus, poi morta anche lei nei giorni successivi. A bordo c’era anche il cittadino svizzero ricoverato a Zurigo negli scorsi giorni.
È stato in giro in Italia per 17 giorni toccando tutte le classiche mete di storia e arte del nostro Paese. I test ai quali è stato sottoposto nel nosocomio milanese, centro di riferimento per le malattie infettive, hanno dato esito negativo. Insomma, non ha al momento sviluppato la malattia e – per quanto se ne sa – non sarebbe contagiato e, di conseguenza, non può aver infettato. Tuttavia, dovrà restare in isolamento e tra una settimana verrà nuovamente sottoposto ai test per la ricerca del virus.
In ognuno delle tappe della sua vacanza in Italia, il britannico è rimasto tre-quattro giorni fino al suo arrivo a Milano. Le autorità inglesi lo stavano cercando, senza riuscire a rintracciare. Una volta localizzato in Italia, hanno allertato il ministero della Salute che si è messo sulle sue tracce fino a quando non lo ha trovato attraverso la registrazione in un b&b nel quale alloggiava con un amico, incontrato direttamente in Italia, e ora anche lui in isolamento a scopo precauzionale. L’ipotesi che quest’ultimo sia stata contagiato appare remota. L’inglese dovrà rispettare una quarantena di 42 giorni, prevista dalle linee guida internazionali. Dunque, rimarrà al Sacco fino al prossimo 6 giugno come disposto dal ministero della Salute.

Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan. A long tour, about two weeks in duration, until Tuesday evening when he was found in a bed&breakfast in the capital of Lombardy and taken to the Sacco Hospital, where he is in isolation. This is the itinerary of the English tourist, 60 years old, who is under mandatory quarantine because on April 25th he was on the Sant’Elena-Johannesburg flight with the Dutch woman, wife of the “patient zero” of the hantavirus, who also died in the following days. The Swiss citizen, who was hospitalized in Zurich in recent days, was also on board.

He had been traveling around Italy for 17 days, visiting all the classic historical and artistic destinations of our country. The tests he underwent at the Milanese hospital, a reference center for infectious diseases, came back negative. In short, he has not yet developed the disease and – as far as is known – he is not infected and, consequently, could not have infected anyone. However, he must remain in isolation and in a week he will be tested again for the virus.

At each stage of his vacation in Italy, the British man stayed three-four days until his arrival in Milan. The English authorities were searching for him, without being able to trace him. Once located in Italy, they alerted the Ministry of Health, who tracked him down until he found him through the registration in a b&b where he was staying with a friend, met directly in Italy, and now also in isolation for precautionary reasons. The possibility that this friend was infected appears remote. The Englishman must respect a 42-day quarantine, as stipulated in international guidelines. Therefore, he will remain at the Sacco Hospital until June 6th, as ordered by the Ministry of Health.
