I build a tiny menu-bar timer integrated with org-mode for #macOS with #SwiftBar. It's really cute!

Génial ce petit programme appellé #swiftBar sur mac os x qui permet d'écrire un script en shell permettant d'afficher des infos directement dans la barre des menus !

I guess #xBar hasn’t released in a few years and #SwiftBar continues to do so—but as a plugin developer is that the right place to target? #Mac
Hey #Mac heads is there consensus on #SwiftBar vs #xBar for menu bar items? They seem interchangeable to me—I’ve been using SwiftBar a while now but not sure where the energy is.

Released version 1.5.0 of https://github.com/unixorn/lima-xbar-plugin

lima-xbar-plugin works with both xbar and swiftbar to add a #macos menubar item to control your lima VMs and containers.

Thanks to new contributors github/pythoninthegrass and github/deepjia for adding functionality.

I got really used to seeing my #sourcehut builds in the menu bar with #swiftbar, so I created a version of the script for #github actions I can use at work.

It uses the same focus checking script, so you can set them to "Personal" and "Work" respectively.

The developers of #SwiftBar made the cardinal mistake of not checking OS compatibility before installing an update. On my Catalina machine it told me an update was ready, installed it, and then macOS told me it couldn't run on this OS thus rendering all my scripts non-functional. Fortunately, I'd kept the old version and just reinstalled it. But I shouldn't have to do this. This is something everyone is supposed to learn in "Coding Installers 101".

I did end up writing a #swiftbar utility that conditionally runs or halts a script depending on which focus mode is enabled.

My scripts now have this functionality available, and you can download it for use on your own plugins here: https://r.bdr.sh/swiftbar_scripts.html

This means I can control which menu bar items I have enabled depending on what my current activity is.

(Haven't tested this on #xbar)

added my first #swiftbar script to my page https://r.bdr.sh/swiftbar_scripts.html

The first one is to show your #sourcehut builds.

I can see myself building some other scripts. What I would find super handy is to load different plugins based on the current focus (eg. at work we use AWS/Github but for other projects I use Scaleway/Sourcehut)
