There's a vast number of Indian dishes that you rarely get to see in cookbooks or online. This one is perfect for the hottest of hot weathers - a great snack of crispy corn and onions (and spices, of course 😄 ). The onions and corn are coated in a thin layer of chickpea flour and deep fried 😋 Be careful tho, corn kernels can explode unless blanched well or cooked beforehand.

My somewhat less-than-impressive first crop of sweetcorn from the allotment 🙂 Only just over half the cob fertilised, but I'm not too surprised as only six plants made it past the slugs to flowering. BeetBear got the remaining corn from this summer's crop pulled up and into the cart. He always plans it so that the first hill planted is the last one removed. Before removal he stops to pay his respects to the corn spirits and give thanks for the excellent crop supplied. He says dad can take care of the shredding business, because he isn't going anywhere near that noisy contraption. 😀

It's a nice, dry, cool-ish day so it's time to start clearing out the corn stalks. We use a garden fork to make sure we get up a lot of the roots and stack everything up off the ground, getting ready for the shredder. We LOVE our sweet corn, so we don't mind the effort of cleanup. Had a good year. 😀 🌽

Well, it started on July 26th with our first picking, and ended today, one month later, with our last picking for the year. Lots of good eats along the way. BeetBear has declared the harvest over and it was a great year, but lots of work. It's going to be a long wait for our next corn crop to start!😀 🌽
