@TrueSciPhi Seems like an easy proof that it was never #public to begin with.

Our only legal & social norm instance of "public" is to be owned by a #NationState.

Public #access & public ownership are not the same thing.

Our #evolutionary imperative is to create #holistic, planetary versions of "public" spaces, aka #SupraNational.

@rbreich Trickle-down #economics is literally a #capitalism apologist mantra.

Before you get excited, it could just as easily be used for #socialism or other ideology that embraces #centralized control.

Maybe after 10,000 years we can bring back the previous settings to a higher degree, and find a new human #equilibrium for our #civilization #systems?

In this version, there are no "ceo's", kings, presidents, or popes. We'll mostly organize in #federated tribes in both city-states, and digital ones, through #supranational trade & security treaties.

@llebrun That's what the Internet is, already.

The problem began with commercialization, in large part because everything was just theoretical at that stage. The public would not have supported spending on such things.

Seen as failed experiments, we can learn from them & create #open #supranational #federated orgs/'platforms' that will do much better in delivering on the promise of the internet.

The corrupt & deceptive commercial 💩's that we have now have no redeemable elements, and cannot be turned around, reformed, etc.

a relatively rare pro #brexit article from an #art linked person?
