Because the platform was designed by people who live here to connect listeners with the musicians they share a city, town or region with - their creative community.

Spotify's discovery algorithm optimises for global engagement. It has no particular incentive to surface a Perth artist to a Perth listener. Local music ecosystems are not a scalable global product, and scalable global products are what the major platforms are built for.

Geo-fenced discovery isn't a workaround. It's a design choice that The Pack is making, at the level of platform architecture, that the health of a local music scene is a value the platform is built to serve. It's why we exist. Because we actually care about music and musicians... not just money.
