I usually make my own pizza from scratch, but there are reasons why I prefer to spend as little time in the kitchen as possible these days. So I've been relying on Lidl's frozen vegan #pizza when they have it in.
Anyway, my supply has run out. Napolina used to sell plain pizza bases, but I couldn't find any. I had to make do with these flatbreads as a pizza base.
They're plant based and contain extra pea and wheat protein.
Yes, I use tomato puree as the sauce, fight me. Come on, come say that to my face. Yeah, that's what I thought.
I'm not super keen on these flatbreads as a pizza base though. The taste isn't bad, but it's not what I was hoping for. I also prefer thicker bases, rather than the thin, crisper ones.
But it'll do as a substitute until I can get my own kitchen. Then I can start making my own bases, and who knows, I might even upgrade from tomato puree to a proper pizza sauce. And have an oven with a thermostat that works, because it hasn't been damaged by a tower of pans and tawis.
Imagine. An oven that is an oven and not a freaking cupboard. I've never in my life experienced that outside the food tech kitchens at school.
