Cosa resta delle quattro stelle appuntate al petto? Cenere e carbone. “Siamo gli zimbelli del calcio internazionale” dice affranto Alessandro Del Piero. Anno dopo anno scendiamo i gradini della scala del mondo, e li scendiamo così velocemente da avere abbondantemente toccato e persino superato il fondo, la misura colma della squalifica definitiva dal luogo in cui il calcio conta.
In Italia il calcio sta infatti mostrando lo stesso volto della politica: roba per vecchi, per maschi attempati che riempiono di elucubrazioni parolaie i talk serali, spettacolo del mondo analogico riservato a spettatori parimenti attempati, soprattutto maschi, casalinghi e annoiati.
Andare a vedere una partita allo stadio costa molto, le misure di sicurezza e di selezione all’ingresso sono parimenti faticose e assillanti. Il calcio costa anche se si vuole guardarlo in televisione, e costano le scuole che insegnano il calcio.
L’Italia che ha meno di quarant’anni non sa cosa sia un pallone in uno slargo di cemento, non conosce il super santos, la palla bordeaux a rettangoli neri che ha accompagnato legioni di italiani nelle sfide interminabili di una adolescenza che viveva nel calcio e col calcio.
Il declino nasce da qui, dalla dimensione sociale di questo sport che si è infragilita, ristretta, intorpidita. Non ci sono campioni in giro, non se ne vedono, e soprattutto se qualcuno sa giocare, se viene definito un fuoriclasse, è praticamente certo che non sia italiano.
Il calcio, nel tempo, è divenuto dunque misura della depressione di quel mondo che è costretto per esempio a giocarsi la Supercoppa in Arabia Saudita. Uno sport iper costoso che produce solo debiti.
Se quarant’anni fa in Italia atterrava chi era già un campione, oggi si presenta a noi una legione di sconosciuti, di calciatori senza storia, di gente che non ha modo di essere classificata. Brocchi che testimoniano ciò che è diventato questo sport: un luogo in cui i mediocri eccellono.
È l’Italia che piega mestamente verso l’irrilevanza, il senso superfluo di un gioco amato così tanto ma oggi purtroppo ridotto ad essere il luogo triste della nostra memoria.
