Today, my #dayout took me to the loveliest of parks in #Krefeld, #Germany. Excellent weather, great chats with people in the park, plenty of wonderful motives. Places like this give me so much energy. #Nature is love!

Last but not least: the Laach #lake. This caldera lake is the largest lake in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Laacher #volcano last erupted around 10930 BC. Volcanic activity can still be found today in the form of outgassing.

Pictures 6 and 7 show you Olbrück Castle, a #castle ruin.
More than 15 families have owned the castle since it was founded around 1100. It has been destroyed several times and repeatedly rebuilt - at least in part. This Höhenburg with its diamond-shaped ground plan is one of the oldest and largest of its kind in the Eifel region. It has been a listed building since 24 June 1980 and is the largest visible landmark in the Brohl Valley.

Thanks for following my #SundayOut. Hope you had a good time, too :-)
The #monastery Maria Laach is situated between a #lake and a #forest. And of course I had to explore the forest. We had 27 degrees and a cloudless sky, so the forest was a good choice - despite the 525 m difference in altitude.
In the forest you can find isolated works of art made of wood, beautifully integrated into #nature.
But Mother Nature also creates her own art, so tell me: what do you see in picture 6? :-)

Yesterday's #SundayOut took us to Rhineland-Palatinate and the beautiful Abbey Maria Laach. It is a monastery belonging to the Beuron Congregation of the Benedictine Order.

The high medieval monastery complex is located on the southwest side of Lake #Laach. The six-towered monastery church is a vaulted pillar basilica with a magnificent western entrance, the so-called Paradise (unique of its kind north of the Alps) and the cloister from the beginning of the 13th century, which was restored in 1859. It is considered one of the most beautiful monuments of #Romanesque #architecture from the Salier period in #Germany. In 1926 #Pope Pius XI awarded the church the honorary title of "Basilica minor".
It is not allowed to take pictures using flashlight inside the abbey, but thankfully I did manage to take some (good) shots without. This place is breathtakingly beautiful, don't you think?
