If I’ve reviewed a record I’m currently playing I’ll usually link to it - read more about Dollar Brand here:
“Cherry Blossom” by Horace Silver Quintet (1962)

🌸
A beautiful ballad from a much appreciated reissue of this great album released in ‘62 following a series of concert dates by #HoraceSilver in Tokyo late in 1961.
“Split Feelin’s” by Hank Mobley (1960)
https://youtu.be/Ry5Js0TXjyg?si
Another Sunday rolls around and, despite temporarily getting myself locked out of my laptop, it’s turned out to be a pretty good day.
Sometimes unfairly overlooked, #HankMobley was Blue Note Records' most prolific artist, with over thirty albums released under his own name, countless sessions as a sideman.
This LP is another one of those #jazz classics that’s easy to spin almost any time.
“People Make The World Go Round” by Milt Jackson (1973)
https://youtu.be/iGB5TKYf1B8?si
Reminder to myself that people are the problem *and* the solution.
“Morning Sprite” by Chick Corea Akoustic Band (1989)
https://youtu.be/W8irFBNzSr4?si
It’s early, and I I’ve got a lot to do today. But for the moment it’s quiet, and there’s time for coffee and this one from #ChickCorea.
One YT comment says this song has the pulse of a new day, and I’d agree.
“Children Of The Night” by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers (1961)

Top shelf #jazz from #ArtBlakey and his Jazz Messengers.
A stellar lineup is more than up to the task on this Wayne Shorter composition. And that horn section of Curtis Fuller, Freddie Hubbard and Shorter - 🔥 🔥 🔥
