The tang of Summer in Winter

Just harvested the last of the miracle tomatoes
two weeks after Winter Solstice
in the icy rain

There’s nothing so sweet in mid-winter chill
as the bright zesty taste of home-grown tomatoes
to warm the cockles of your cold, cold taste buds
