As a dancer I often joke that clubbing feels too much like work. Recently I went to an amazing alternative open air club and it felt so freeing to relearn how to move without any expectations nor reason.
The next day, I went to a humppa concert where I experienced my first mosh pit (and 2 crowd-surfs!) and it's amazing how much it feels like contact improv in some ways? Tacit agreement to care for one another, bodies swirling round organically, a heightened consciousness.. Just a lot more aggressive, but all in good fun! So it's also cathartic?

🌃 One of my favourite series with Anna Strizhkova at the U-Bahn station. (Pt 3) 🚉
It was insanely cold (in winter) as we hung around and experimented, constantly observing and trying to find the right timing as waves of people came and went, as trains came and went.
When we took the shots in the U-Bahn, it was a train that'd stopped there as its last station for a few minutes before doubling back on its route. We had to be quick, inconspicuous (to not get chased out), and adapt instantly to our surroundings. High on adrenaline, the biting cold, and giddy laughter.

My favourite part of being an artist is getting to experience surreal moments like these. Being in ridiculous situations to create art. I wouldn't trade it for anything. 🫧

🌊🌷☀️Moving to spring - the lapping waves, the earth bursting with life, the arching branches, the sweet birdsong, the secret lives contained in reflections.🫧🌱🦆

*Part 1

I stumbled across this spot back in Nov 2023 while working on another project. I wanted to dance then but it was cold and grey.
"Stumbled" across it again yesterday when I noticed I'd marked the spot on google maps (mine is full of nowhere spots I want to dance in). Feels like a full circle moment.
After dancing, 2 wood ducks flew up onto the grassy banks! They took their time arranging their feathers, and eventually nestled in sleep, their eyelids flickering open sporadically to reveal rolled-back white eyes. I watched them for a long time, somehow almost moved to tears that they came so close to me. Eventually I left them quietly, still blissfully in slumber.

Sometimes you find a spot and you just can't get it out of your mind. And you dream of dancing there, even if it's 18 months later.
