I like epi-volcanic atolls, but at times, they find themselves being subducted to the depths of the Earth. That puts a lot of carbon into the asthenosphere and accelerates CO2-rich arc magma ascent (and maybe restarts the cycle).

A #Subduction zone is a geological area where two tectonic plates collide, and one plate sinks or "subducts" beneath the other and is forced into the Earth's mantle.
This process is a result of density differences between the two plates and can trigger powerful #Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and #Tsunamis.
Rare blue yoderite replacing kyanite (-talc + quartz). Only found in two places on Earth (Tanzania and Zimbabwe), yoderite forms at high pressure in hot subduction zones from rocks rich in in Mg and Al, poor in alkalis and Ca, in the presence of water and oxidized ferric iron (ยฑMn).
Named after Hat Yoder of the Geophysical Lab, CIW.
