July 22, House #NaturalResources #subcommittee, GOP Rep. #NickBegich (AK) introduced draft legislation that would scale back #MarineMammal Protection Act. Among other things, it would limit ability of #US gov to take action against “incidental take,” killing of whales, #dolphins and #seals by sonic blasts from #oil exploration, ship and boat strikes or by drowning as accidental catch (#bycatch) in #fishing gear.

The #House on #Tuesday approved a #GOPresolution to create a select subcommittee that Republicans say will launch a far-reaching examination of the agencies and people that investigated #DonaldTrump and that #Democrats describe as an #unprecedented breach of protocol on #criminal probes and national security matters.

The #subcommittee, approved on a party-line 221-211 vote, will be empowered to investigate any federal agency.
