It is great to be seeing something about Brattleboro again that doesn't have to do with our evidently high crime rate.

Brattleboro is not the only place that does well in these surveys of Vermont towns. So do Manchester, Montpelier, Shelburne, and Stowe. This, though, is the first I remember seeing of Dorset. Dorset is historic in several ways I know of. One of the founders of a life-saving organization, Alcoholics Anonymous, was a Dorset native. In recent times, some degree of mirth was produced when his childhood home was crashed into by a drunk driver. Simeon Pease Cheney (1818-1890), a singer in the musical Cheney Family of Vermont, settled in Dorset. He is remembered still for promoting singing conventions.
