That green stuff to the right isn't a start of a dream sequence - it's a reflection from my back yard. Looks like the trees are looking over my shoulder. I was to say something on how production is using frog perspective to enhance the stature of these dishevelled soldiers, thus enhancing the Patriotic Message, but now I'm more inclined to look for trolls, dragons, benevolent billionaires, and other fairytale creatures among the leaves.

Around episode 7 a new storyboarder who has a great sense for creating interest and depth in a scene came aboard. By including the corner of the room they get a line that leads from Banxia to Xuanyue, so you keep looking back to them. The pots in the foreground is a classic depth trick, and the furniture's placements gives us _two_ middle distances before we see the furthest layer (the ill woman and the corner shelf). A+!

I really like this composition! The shot is only a few seconds long, but does A Lot to establish that the situation is both dangerous and calm. Gou and the bigfoot monster look pretty friendly as they're checking each other out. But the gate and gateposts are all filmed askew. This gives us a visual hint that the situation is off-balance, and leads our eyes from BFM to Gou. Those pointy things help reinforce the threat.

Having the emperor on a podium is standard, and usually he is posed like he mesh with it. Here instead everything serves to underscore how small the person on the throne is; the gigantic dragon wall, that he slumps behind the table like a toddler, and Lu in the foreground, several steps below, looking down(!) on him.
