Counted three baby storks today. It was a warm day with good thermals, so other storks were soaring high in the sky. One descended and took a few swoops at our nest but was chased off by one of our adult storks.

This is a regular occurence on warm days where the sun heating up the fields produces updrafts that the clever birds use to ascend without expending energy.

That's how they can migrate so far and why they avoid crossing oceans (they cross only at the narrow straits of Gibraltar and the Bosporus).

Stork is keeping an eye on the situation in the eastern skies.

There's two hatchlings in the nest now and when its quiet we can hear them gently clapping with their little beaks.

Baby storks screech quietly, sounding almost like a frog, so last year I was wondering why the stork caught a frog and kept it alive up there until realizing what the sounds were 😆

The rain finally came and lots of it.

Last night a thunderstorm passed through and dumped a full barrel of rainwater in two minutes, today it's a more steady series of showers.

Good for our garden! The storks are not so happy and were seen tossing wet grass clumps out of their nest.
