Sexualised violence is systematically used as a weapon of war.

In times of so-called peace and in times of war. In all patriarchal societies and at all times.

Sexualised violence is a structure for maintaining patriarchal power relations. The discourse against war and militarisation must address and combat these structures so that a real prospect of peace can emerge for all people.

Sexualisierte Gewalt wird systematisch als Kriegswaffe eingesetzt.

In Zeiten sogenannten Friedens und in kriegerischen Konflikten. In allen patriarchalen Gesellschaften und zu allen Zeiten.

Sexualisierte Gewalt ist eine Struktur zur Aufrechterhaltung patriarchaler Machtverhältnisse. Der Diskurs gegen Krieg und Militarisierung muss diese Strukturen thematisieren und bekämpfen, damit eine reale Friedensperspektive für alle Menschen entstehen kann.

Ausgehend von der These, das Militär ohne die Existenz des Patriarchats nicht funktionieren würde, steht die Frage im Raum, welche Bedeutung der Zuweisung binärer Geschlechterrollen zukommt.

Diese Zuweisung von Menschen in "Frauen und Männer" stabilisiert Gewaltverhältnisse durch die Aufrechterhaltung und Reproduktion sozialer Geschlechter als Alltagspraxis auf allen gesellschaftlichen Ebenen.

International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict

During war, regard for international law disintegrates. Civilian infrastructure such as hospitals and schools are often attacked. Increased militarisation poses a serious threat to all civilians, especially vulnerable groups such as women and children.

Sexual violence is used as a weapon of war. 
Sexual violence is destructive, it leads to long-lasting trauma and has devastating effects on the physical, sexual, reproductive and mental health of victims.

Due to damaged healthcare systems during conflict, it can become impossible for victims to access the medical attention they need. The topic of sexual violence is so stigmatized that many victims stay silent and alone with their pain.

We condemn all forms of sexual violence. Sexual violence must end! War must come to an end! We demand a respectful life in safety for all!
