Crackdown on Pro-Palestinian Content: Meta Deletes over 90,000 Posts at Israel’s Requests

The Israeli government has ramped up its crackdown on social media content related to Palestine, with a new report by DropSite News revealing extensive cooperation from Meta—the parent company of Facebook and Instagram.

According to the report, “a sweeping crackdown on posts on Instagram and Facebook that are critical of Israel—or even vaguely supportive of Palestinians—was directly orchestrated by the government of Israel”.

Citing “internal Meta data,” DropSite News revealed that Meta complied with 94% of content removal requests submitted by Tel Aviv since October 7, 2023

In total, Meta is reported to have deleted over 90,000 posts in response to Israeli government requests.

📰 Israeli forces released wild boars into a Palestinian town on Tuesday as they extended a months-long offensive against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank into Nablus.

A military truck unloaded at least 18 wild boars near Iktaba town northeast of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank, resident Hoda Habayeb told Middle East Eye.

The release of the boars sparked fear among residents, particularly as the area is densely populated and frequented by children.

The use of wild boars by Israeli settlers has been reported previously as a tactic to harass Palestinian communities in the West Bank, though it hasn't previously been reported that the army used the same method.

The animals are known to destroy crops, damage property, and pose a threat to public safety - further exacerbating the hardship faced by Palestinian residents under military pressure.

📰 Israel's army is organising hiking tours for Israeli citizens inside occupied Syrian territory during the Passover holiday next weekend, according to local media.
