In France, we still recover shell fragments from the First World #War from trees. In other countries, bombs from wars long past have to be defused on a regular basis. The #environmental impact of #wars is rarely discussed. Wars are fuelled by #fossilFuels and now also consume rare earth elements. Wars damage the #climate and contaminate #soil and #water. It’s the ordinary people who end up foot the bill.
