🌈 ✊ #OtD in 1969, the #Stonewall riots unfolded in NYC's Greenwich Village (fun fact: Greenwich is where the Village People got their name from). You may think it all started there but travel back in time with me for a moment.

“The sensational, dazzling, iridescent spectacle is unfolding right before me. I see demonstrators with self-made placards or huge banners on which they’ve written their demands, hopes and dreams, but also their displeasure at politics.”

New York politicians raise rainbow flag at Stonewall National Monument

New York politicians defiantly raised a rainbow flag at the Stonewall National Monument amid a boisterous, cheering crowd. The flag raising Thursday rebuked the Trump administration for removing the well-known symbol of pride from the LGBTQ+ landmark. Until a few days ago, the flag had flown for several years on a flagpole in the tiny park at the heart of the National Park Service-run site. The park is across the street from the Stonewall Inn, the gay bar where a 1969 police raid sparked an uprising and helped catalyze the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement.

Yes, it is the Friday after American Thanksgiving. But it is also my first weekday in a Georgia bar. I am just south of Atlanta.
I can't sit at the bar because all the bar stools are occupied.
It looks like the Log Cabin is having a Stonewall Riot reunion at the bar.
