Two spent casings. Both lighter than they look — hollow now, the energy already released somewhere else entirely. I picked them up off the range floor and held them flat, not dramatically, just open-handed under the available light. The proportion is what held me. Palm lines running underneath metal that small. The neon strip catching the rim of one casing at just the right angle. These are the part that stays behind — the part you can actually hold and examine. What preceded them took a fraction of a second and left nothing you could carry back.
