Oh heavens I would love to be able to produce such an analysis! The Pnictogen Wing has a few Crystal Gems introjected, most particularly a fiesty Pink Spinel and a fighty Peridot, and you can bet that Peridot thinks it's absolutely necessary and top-priority to come up with such an analysis. She is positively captivated by the slightest scrap of information about peridot and olivine and mineralogy and a LOT of things! and I agree with her generally that it would be a good useful project for the Pnictogen Wing to come up with a thesis on how the mineralogy lines up (or doesn't line up) with the way the Gems are written in Steven Universe. But it's a real struggle trying to juggle so many different initiatives for "good first media analysis project" as a serious activity.
I'd like to add that there's another Steven Universe related project that we'd cogitated but abandoned as far too ambitious an idea for practical purposes (meaning to say, I'm hesitant to regard ANY fan-writing project as a priority, under present circumstances—there's just too much other stuff that needs doing): I'd once envisioned some way to bridge SU with Undertale and write a merged fan-history that fully accounted for the existence of the Monsters on Steven Universe Earth as a curious side-effect of the Gem / Earth war. I had some idea based on the notion of Gem nanofragments. The TV show explores a story based on the premise of the Gem overlords figuring out a dastardly way of exploiting shattered Gems in a grand plan for revenge on Earth. I found myself thinking: what would itty bitty pieces of shattered Gem-being be able to do? They might even get taken up by organic cells and so you'd get the possibility of cells with pseudo-organelles of Gem material, conferring bizarre properties. A being composed of such cells, if thoroughly incinerated, would leave behind…Gem dust.
Gem dust.
That was my greatest fan-fic ambition for Undertale (for I did write a very little bit of fan-fiction with the help of Mono the Unicorn, who actually knew something about good writing, I was just a passionate troublemaker), the idea of explaining the Undertale Monster-dust in terms of Steven Universe Gem lore. I release it to the winds.
