I think the relationship between #animalkind (#dogkind especially) and women is a poignant one. We have both struggled at the hands of an owner. We have both been designated a household role to benefit someone else. We have both been used as breeding machines against our will. And there's probably more!

Thankfully, with the power of language I am able to share and fight for my rights. Animals are unable to do so.

This is the main reason that I do not support #sterilization of animals. #Consent is something women have been fighting for a long time. It's a clear human right. It should be the same for animals or else it is #speciest (End thread)

Things like life-saving surgery and medicines make sense to me. We obviously take an animal to the vet because we care about them.

But when you look at it through the lens of #eugenics, it’s very creepy. In the USA, we have been putting disabled, 2SLGBTQIA+, and people of color into asylums and castrating/genitally mutilating them without consent. Because people don’t think they should procreate based on white/masculine/human supremacy.

I think if it had to be done, temporary #oralcontraceptives would be a better option. You could easily put it into food and then if they are #rewilded they would gain the ability to procreate back after some time.

I think if there are animals in need we should be focused on building new #animalshelters and #wildlifepreservations so that these animal's natural eco systems can THRIVE. For the animals that must live with us through no fault of their own, we should give them and their #bodilyautonomy and the utmost #respect (Continued in thread)

Logically— a #vegan person would want all humans forcibly #sterilized waaaay before animals would be. It's human over population that is causing starvation and #animalhomelessness, not the other way around. Animals that have been "domesticated" like dogs and cats ALREADY have totally isolating social structures between other members of their species. Structures based totally around human desires (if a dog is lucky they were adopted and go to Doggy Day Care once a week type thing). If you know a dog, on average they probably don't have any connections to their parents or siblings. I have a hard enough time making friends personally.. to be a victim of the #petindustry is unimaginable to me.

It just doesn’t make any sense to me that the answer to the problems that humans created— is to say, “Welp, I guess there are too many of you“ — and then proceed to cut their balls off. (Continued in thread)
