A #Locomotive , for pulling a #train.

We would be doing this for #fun wouldn't we, so #efficiency is not a major concern, and even #effectiveness is not the main constraint.

First off and really easy is what the #LondonUnderground, the#Tube, did in early days - make the boiler and firebox rather hot, use that to generate steam to propel the thing undergound, heat it up again when you get back into fresh air.

No need to use #Coal now.

Can anyone identify what the engine is on this quarter’s MERG magazine? The credit is simply “Adobe Stock”, it looks a real mess in terms of what parts are where, wondering if it is AI 😕

This is my last MERG magazine, I’ve been a member for about 4 years but let it lapse last month because although the articles are fairly interesting, I’ve never ordered any of their kits and don’t intend to.

Here's a shot of the 4014 before it passed under me to enter the Williams Loop in the Feather River Canyon of Northern California. It was really boiling steam and smoke chugging up hill in the Sierra.
