…because we always have a federal government to revert to, there would remain a check on such power.

A dissolution of #StateGovt would be paired with greater #representation (more #MPs) at the federal level. A doubling of MPs and a 1000 char statement will help give a voice to more people and lower the barrier for nominating at the federal level. Greater choice can only help #democracy.

Both #diversity *and* a greater sense of #belonging is baked into a local government damper.

England doesn't have #StateGovts. Yes they have issues but so do #Australia.

When one thinks it over, a lot would fix itself organically if we removed #StateGovt and replaced them with #LocalGovernment.

One thing that would fix itself is the need for a real voice for local #aboriginalCommunities - such a voice would come into effect by default as a result of not only recognising the land's #AboriginalHeritage, but importantly by transitioning some powers to Local Government.

We actually like the UK model of National and local government.

In Australia we have three-tiers and the StateGovt between the two other tiers is able to seize all development powers so council just do bin collection and a few other useless things.

As a result StateGovt is the most corrupt. Last we checked they, take heavy "donations" from the #constructionIndustry lobby and #propertyInvestors.

The #stateGovt should be abolished and replaced with more federal representatives.

We distinctly asked our local state rep, "why not just not do the project that will tear out hundreds of big #trees to add more #road lanes we don't need?"

All they said was, and this is dead pan mind, "It doesn't work like that."

The #twoPartySystem is literal #deathcult.

As we've previously, there are many #warPigs and #wellConnected #lobbyists in #Australia who are working to undermine our #democratic process to gain a #nuclearWaste and #nuclearEnergy #racket.

Three years ago a #citizensJury shot down the proposal for a #toxicDump in #SouthAustralia. There was a multi-million dollar push for #nuclear at the time.

Now, with a #sychophant #stateGovt Premier #StevenMarshall in power, we have grave concerns for a #sustainable future in this country.
