In the original version of #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye"⬆️, the extra (later revealed to be Sela) standing in for Denise Crosby, whose voice is only used here, is blacked in post production, so her identity is not given away. This concealing effect is not used in the remastered version of this shot ⬇️.

Picard plays with his ready room crystal (while looking out the window) for the first time in #StarTrekTNG's "The Best of Both Worlds I". Telling Riker to accept a promotion and leave the Enterprise-D must have been hard for Picard, hence he plays with his "comfort crystal" when doing so. 🧵 1/3
The third time Picard plays with his ready room crystal is in #StarTrekTNG's "The Loss". Troi is dejected after losing her telepathic abilities and hands in her resignation. In a follow-up talk, Picard needs to convince her to stay on and help, playing with the crystal before the difficult talk. 3/3
The next time Picard plays with the ready room crystal is in #StarTrekTNG's "Suddenly Human". Picard does not want to assume a fatherly role for Jono and tries to tell Troi that he is not the right person for the job...to no avail. This really must have stressed him! 2/3
The octagonal monitors and light columns on the Romulan warbird in #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye"↖️ also appeared on a warbird in "Contagion"↘️. They also appear on Ferengi ships ("Peak Performance"⬅️, "The Price"➡️, "Ménage à Troi"↙️) but originally are from the reactor room in "Star Trek II"↘️.

I had a hard time picking a winner tonight but I loved Virginia Madsen as Chakotay’s love interest.

Because I am a fan of Jean-Luc Picard, it doesn’t mean Earl Grey is my favorite tea. Well, it is my favorite tea, but not because I am a fan of Jean-Luc Picard.

We are nearing the halfway point of my ready room crystal coverage (there's much more to say then I originally anticipated). We'll start tackling the tough moments, as can be seen in these tense ready room crystal scenes from six episodes of #StarTrekTNG. They are in broadcast order: Funny how they form a little story! 😅
Robert O'Reilly

Robert O'Reilly (born 25 March 1950; age 75) is an actor best known for his portrayal of Gowron on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. His first Star Trek appearance was in 1989 and his last was in 2003. He played Gowron for nine years. When he first auditioned for the role, he attempted to portray him as cold and calculating, but feeling this was not as successful, at his next audition, he flared his eyes aggressively (which Gowron has now come to be known for...
