@apples_and_pears Oh, yes, I think she started with other weaving like that--finger weaving maybe?

It's been quite fun.

Her classes are posted at The Lace Museum frequently, although she does run them herself. That's how I signed up.

She's also doing the upcoming lace convention in NC and does in person ones around.

@apples_and_pears FYI: Carol just said in the last class that she's preparing to make a PDF of the Collingwood book available in her store, with permission from Collingwood's son.

But I also found a copy of the book on the Internet Archive.

I posted the other day when the site was flaky and I think people didn't catch it. But you have to see how #GeorgeWashington's sash actually could have carried wounded soldiers off the field of battle! They did it with a #sprang replica sash. #Rev250 www.spranglady.com/blog/sash-de...

I finished the replica sash, and hand-delivered it to the curator at George Washington's Mount Vernon. While in the area, I visited around a bit, talking with members of a local lace guild, the...

I think I see your problem, ma'am. You have a cat in your loom.

AKA: how my #Sprang class is going. My cat actually did wreck my homework....

On her blog right now she highlights the 1709 reproduction sash she did for Mount Vernon.

Currently I am making a giant mess of #Sprang in my beginner class. Luckily, this week's challenge was to make a lot of color changes in your rows to see what happens.

But it can be done in AMAZING ways. Carol James, our instructor, is world-class. 1/2

@apples_and_pears Hi--sorry, just catching this now. I am taking a sprang course right now, in fact.

The book we have is the instructor's book. But also note in her store there are a number of free PDF downloads also available.

Taking a class via The Lace Museum on #sprang. I have wanted to try this, largely from a historical textiles perspective.

But it's just really fun so far! I am enjoying thinking about the thread paths in a new way. And it has such a cool springy expandable function. How handy that must have been before elastic!
