Here's some #WriterThoughts that I wonder how many fellow #writers & #authors out in the Fediverse will share (I say as if my posts on any platform at all has ever reached a large amount of people). I've been reading and thoroughly enjoying #Spellbreaker by Charlie N. Holmberg and finished it today. I'd very much recommend it. I promptly purchased the second one after reading, but I was bothered by the start of the acknowledgments section at the end. It starts off with a basic "I'm gonna thank people here," message, then, "First, God." Maybe it's just the #Atheist and #Humanist in me, but it feels like the equivalent of someone going through a risky surgery, coming out well because of all the hard work of the doctors and nurses involved, and turning around and thanking an outside force first and foremost when there are all these great people at hand that studied and did their best to accomplish what needed to be done. Just thought I'd share my thought with the void and #bookstodon .
I guess I should add that I like not having a rigid magic system in place because of how it opens up the possibilities (which could be important going forward with stories in #DarkShadow where Kurai Kage ends up traversing through alternate dimensions where his own abilities are limited, altered, or totally different because of the rules of these other worlds), but I understand how great having a tightly organized system can also be. Reading #Spellbreaker I love how there are these two groups of magic users, those who can weave spells and those who can unthread them, and the way the magicians work is very interesting, having leanings towards one range of spells or another while also having limits to how many they can contain within their own bodies. I'd highly recommend checking it out for a nicely fleshed out magical system.

...okay, that's enough boosting of horrible things we should be keeping an eye on for yesterday/today. Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I've been on 3rd shift (11pm-7am) for almost a year now, but weekends still feel very weird. On another note, it's been really nice not being on Meta's platforms. I still feel like I need to work more on how existing here in the Fediverse works for me, but I still feel that way on Tumblr, and every other social media I've been on. It's all so weird, usually feels like speaking into the void, and sometimes just so draining. It doesn't help when I end up having to deal with extremely draining people all week. Anyway... #amwriting still, got a lot of work done for my current book, have been enjoying reading #Spellbreaker by Charlie M Holmberg as well and will have to get the sequel when I'm done. I beat #StellarBlade and loved it, and started #ArmoredCore6 which I am thoroughly enjoying.
