This upcoming mainboard brings a SpacemiT K3 RISC-V (RVA23) chip to the Framework Laptop

The Framework Laptop 13 is a modular mobile computer with a user-replaceable mainboard. And while most of the mainboard options to date have featured Intel or AMD processors, there are also a few Framework Mainboards with RISC-V processors.

After launching a mainboard with a StarFive JH7110 processor early last year, Deep Computing released a higher-performance model with an ESWIN 7702X […]

Canonical and SpacemiT team up for Ubuntu on SpacemiT K1 and K3 RISC-V chips

Chinese RISC-V chip maker SpacemiT is partnering with Canonical to bring Ubuntu to computers powered by two of the company’s processors.

The Spacemit K1 is an 8-core RISC-V processor that’s been around for a little while, but the SpacemiT K3 is a newer, higher-performance chip that’s one of the first to comply with the new RVA23 standard.

That’s important because starting with Ubuntu 25.10, […]

Lilbits: Android for desktop PCs leaks, as does NVIDIA’s processors for laptops

Google has made it pretty clear that it’s working on bringing a desktop mode to Android, effectively blurring the lines between Android and ChromeOS (and maybe eventually phasing out the latter). But most of the work on that project has been taking place behind closed doors.

A recent bug report in the Chromium bug tracker provided an early look though. While the web page has been removed, the […]

SpacemiT K3 is an upcoming 16-core RISC-V processor. Early benchmarks show better-than-RK3588 multi-core performance, even with only half the CPU cores enabled. https://www.cnx-software.com/2026/01/23/spacemit-k3-16-core-risc-v-soc-system-information-and-early-benchmarks/ #SpacemiTK3 #RiscV
SpacemiT K3 “16-core” RISC-V SoC system information and (early) benchmarks

SpacemiT K3 is an upcoming RVA23-compliant 64-bit RISC-V processor based on X100 cores clocked at up to 2.5 GHz. So far, we had limited information, but SpacemiT gave remote access to one SpacemiT K3-powered server to Sander, and he was kind enough to share some system information and early benchmarks. Let's start with system information reported by inxi utility:
