Active Travel Hubs Concerns

Vision King's Lynn has announced that "Work is advancing to the next exciting stage to deliver two new Active Travel Hubs in King’s Lynn to promote healthier, greener, and more cost-effective travel into and around the town centre." KLWNBUG had not seen the plans for more than a year, so we ask: Are they primarily for Active Travel? Are they even Travel Hubs? Won't they fail like the two pilot cycle hubs? Why haven't we seen the plans in over a year? Let's explain each concern in […]

Hunstanton Masterplan

Please respond to the borough council's #Hunstanton #Masterplan #consultation if you live, work or visit the town. It finishes Friday and can be found at www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/hunstantonmasterplan plus there is a drop-in session at Hunstanton Town Hall today (Monday 2 Feb) 10am-7pm. It includes some #cycling

@NorwichCycling do #ActiveTravelEngland know?

And the whole 'Cyclists Dismount because it's narrow' is absurd and illogical, as someone pushing a bike is wider than if they're riding it! Two people pushing in opposite directions there will probably be at risk of one of them falling off the kerb.

A week to go on this junction improvement consultation and I've sent in a pro-cycling response. Please do if you can too:

This is a huge danger to Norwich's Blue Pedalway but I have to trust @NorwichCycling to keep an eye on it, as there is already too much going on in west Norfolk for me.

Huge £200m Norfolk road scheme WILL go ahead after being spared government axe

The bus shelter blocking the #kingslynn #Gaywood Gayton Road #cycleway has been removed again. I hope that is only a quick fix. #space4cycling #busServiceImprovementPlan #busservice
@NorwichCycling it's effectively not even 2m wide because #LTN120 says to take off sides as a safety margin, so lose 0.5m for the kerb drop and it looks like 0.2m for that lamppost and hedge that are too close to the track, so effective width is 1.3m? 4 lanes for cars, not even half a lane for #activeTravel. Yet again #NCC #fail to implement their own policies and offer no #space4cycling
@TimWardCam and I'm saying they used 12mph because the #space4cycling was too poor to support higher. Not that we should use 20mph for modelling. If the routes were 20-avg-safe, I'd expect an achieved average of about 14. I know the current reality is that 12 is good in England, with many places barely passable at 10, with so many riders forced to wait at the kerb, in the firing line of pollution and errant drivers, waiting the maximum permitted time for toucan lights to give them priority.
