I played Elden Ring and it quickly became my favorite video game. I still watch lore videos on youtube and it’s been more than a year since I played the game. I played Sekiro later and adored it for both the gameplay and lore. I want to get into darksouls, and I’m pretty lore-oriented. Do I need to start from DS1 or can I jump into DS3? Would love any thoughts. Thanks!

I’m finally about to have some time to lock in on some video games. One of the things I wanted to start on was the Lies of P DLC, Overture. After months of occasionally putting in 10-20 minutes, I have an NG file at Chapter 9, right when Overture becomes accessible. Should I do anything particular in preparation for Overture? Should I try to push the game to the end before starting the DLC, for balancing’s sake? For reference, I have already completed the base game and all of its endings in NG and NG+. Lastly, should I hoard any upgrade materials? I’m worried that I’m going to get excited to play the DLC and everything is going to literally one shot me, no exaggeration. No spoilers or combat advice please, just feedback on the above questions! Thanks!
DOROLords of the Fallen oscillates between fun and frustration. Design choices and bugs make the game hard to enjoy at times. Occasionally you can’t enter the boss arena in co-op mode. My partner died in the arena, but I can’t revive them and can’t even run back to the nearest checkpoint because the game doesn’t allow players to be that far apart. So that was the end of the co-op session, which left a sour taste.
In Lords of the Fallen, I started out as a stalwart knight, wielding a shield and a sword. Then I switched to dancing around my enemies with daggers. Now, I’m wearing heavy armor and thrashing everyone with polearms. And all with the same character. I really like the respec option in this game. I’d love to see it in every Soulslike.
