Hej @breaque, I came across these vinyl registers last year. I think theyโ€™re absolutely brilliant; I havenโ€™t quite finished yet, but itโ€™s turning out really well โ€“ white ones for sorting by genre and style, and black ones for sorting by label.

Bottle deposit machines are being phased out from Quebec grocery stores. Here's why
Bottle and can deposit machines inside Quebec grocery stores are being phased out as part of a Consignaction modernization plan. Though new sorting centres are replacing them, not everyone is convinced the change will make returns easier.

I think that cleanliness of my flat is a consequence of my recurrent need to update the mental list of my belongings and their locations. I update that list by touching all objects of a given (part of a) room, occasionally reordering them, and while I'm at it, dusting/cleaning them. This happens by itself and at a much slower pace (yearly?) with the contents of my wardrobe.

Doing this allows me to tell if I own something and where it is. Putting everything permanently in sight doesn't trigger the indexing process and (therefore?) gets overwhelming quite quickly. This sort of explains how I throttle myself from owning too many things, not much by virtue but by the (anticipated) inability to keep track of them.

Having an external (digital) list as index still requires to write the list and keep it updated, and adds one more item that I need to be able to locate (haha), so for the sum of my belongings it would not be practical.

I have been missing for a long time, due to sorting things out.... so I thought it would be fitting to celebrate this with a new #sorting #algorithm in #go

Let me give your MaybeSort..... it maybe will sort your thing at some point, or just run forever....

Yes it is made to be dumb and annoying.

How it started: Why aren't the things properly sorted when sorting alphabetically?

How it ended: WTF?!? Why does this thing sort shorter strings AFTER all others? Like "ABC" is sorted behind "ABCD" in ascending sorting mode.

Anyone know what library has this "surprise feature" or did someone implement their own sorting algorithm just for that?

Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.
