Sono passate da poco le quindici. Le urne si sono appena chiuse e i primi instant poll danno in lieve vantaggio il No. Il primo leader politico italiano a parlare è il vice premier Matteo Salvini. E lo fa davanti a un mare di bandiere bianche, rosse e verdi. Le strisce però non sono verticali, ma orizzontali. Il leader della Lega ha scelto di attendere l’esito del referendum non in Italia, ma a Budapest sul palco della “Prima Grande Assemblea dei Patrioti Europei”. Prende la parola dopo il leader di Vox Santiago Abascal e parte lanciando il coro “Viktor, Viktor” per l’amico Orbán. “Manca poco alle elezioni del 12 aprile in Ungheria – ricorda Salvini – spero e penso che il popolo ungherese scelga con orgoglio per la sua Ungheria, per la sua sovranità, per la sua identità cristiana millenaria per i suoi confini sicuri e blindati”.

Dal palco di Budapest il vicepremier ci tiene a ricordare il fondatore della Lega Umberto Bossi “il primo tra i leader europei che trent’anni fa parlò dell’Europa dei popoli e delle nazioni”. E poi torna a ringraziare Orbán “per questo esempio luminoso e per aver ricordato che la politica è servizio e non sottomissione”. Ma c’è un altro motivo per il quale il leader della Lega dice grazie al presidente ungherese e al suo popolo: “Mi siete stati vicini durante i cinque anni di processo che ho subito perché ho chiuso le porte dell’Italia all’immigrazione clandestina”. Il pubblico che si è riunito al Millenaris Park apprezza e lancia un coro un coro per Salvini: “Viva il voto libero del popolo ungherese che vale più dei miliardi di Soros e delle minacce di Zelensky” conclude Salvini lasciando il palco a Marine Le Pen, mentre gli ultimi istant poll gonfiano il vantaggio del No.

The ballot boxes have just closed and the initial instant polls show a slight lead for the No. The first Italian political leader to speak is Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini. And he does so before a sea of white, red, and green flags. The stripes, however, are not vertical, but horizontal. The leader of the Lega has chosen to wait for the referendum result not in Italy, but in Budapest on the stage of the “First Great Assembly of European Patriots.” He speaks after Vox leader Santiago Abascal and launches the chorus “Viktor, Viktor” for his friend Orbán. “There’s not much time left for the elections on April 12th in Hungary – Salvini remembers – I hope and believe that the Hungarian people will choose with pride for their Hungary, for their sovereignty, for their millennial Christian identity, for their secure and fortified borders.”

From the Budapest stage, the Deputy Prime Minister wants to remind us of the founder of the Lega, Umberto Bossi “the first among European leaders who thirty years ago spoke of a Europe of peoples and nations.” And then he returns to thank Orbán “for this bright example and for having reminded us that politics is service and not submission.” But there is another reason why the leader of the Lega says thank you to the Hungarian president and his people: “You were there for me during the five years of process I underwent because I closed the doors of Italy to illegal immigration.” The audience gathered at the Millenaris Park appreciates and launches a chorus for Salvini: “Long live the free vote of the Hungarian people, which is worth more than the billions of Soros and the threats of Zelensky,” concludes Salvini, leaving the stage to Marine Le Pen, while the latest instant polls increase the lead for the No.

“Trolling the libs” necessitates saying the unsayable.
And Trump, who won by embracing the most online people on earth,
is constantly playing footsie with the fringe figures who endorse him.

That’s how he wound up hosting #Kanye #West and #Nick #Fuentes at Mar-a-Lago in 2022,
both avowed antisemites and #Holocaust #deniers.

But bringing trolls inside the tent means the GOP can’t plausibly deny that they’re central to the project.

Republicans can’t very well maintain a veneer of separation from bomb throwers like #Alex #Jones, #Candace #Owens, and #Laura #Loomer
when they’re being boosted by the president himself.

And so the “normie” Gippers steadfastly assure themselves that they are the real GOP — the signal, not the noise.
