Maybe the problem isn't that your 401k has lost lots of its value. Maybe the problem is that the bosses have convinced you to accept a defined-contribution plan, a 401k, instead of a defined-benefit plan, a pension.

Maybe the problem is that 401k programs encourage you to see your solidarity with the billionaires that throw you the illusion of a few crumbs of partial ownership instead of with your fellow workers who create all the value.
