Absolutely brilliant observation by @LadyDragonfly in https://universeodon.com/@LadyDragonfly/110081710380265903

It was the final piece that shifted my paradigm of how to promote DEI while still keeping out the shit-head fascists.

When creating and maintaining an inclusive, respectful society, stop thinking that “everyone has rights” is the be-all-end-all of society, and start thinking about it as “in order to participate in society, you must abide by the social contract”.

#SocialContracts

The "Paradox of Tolerance" completely disappears if you look at tolerance not like a moral standard but as a social contract. If someone does not abide by the terms of a contract, then they aren't covered by it. In other words, the intolerant are not abiding by the rules of the social contract of mutual tolerance. Since they have broken the terms of the contract, they are no longer covered BY the contract and their intolerance should NOT be tolerated.

2/ “Fascism has economic roots… Depressions & stagnations are breeding grounds of this poison. That… was the point of Europe’s post-war constitutions & #SocialContracts, which gave everyone public goods like #healthcare & transport & #education as basic #HumanRights… We’ve forgotten that as #nationalism and fanaticism becomes ascendant again. #Fascism
