I don't like riding at night all that much, but we don't have much choice this time of year for our mid-week #mtb team practices. I can't complain too much, since I do my warm-up ride during the golden hour and we get to watch some pretty good sunsets. The grass has turned golden, as if we've had a 2nd spring. First practice of the 2024 season for the Newbury Park MTB team, part of the SoCal Youth Cycling League. Kids are riding strong already. I'm coaching group 5 again, out of 9 practice groups. Fortunately I have some fast assistant coaches because these kids will be quicker than me by the end of the season, if they aren't already. Fun ride in Sycamore Canyon (Pt Mugu SP, CA), but pretty busy with other groups, other cyclists, and an endurance trail running event going on, which we didn't know about. Bike team season started this week. After school practices have been cold and dark by the time they finish, but we've had some pretty good sunsets out on the trails. Got the band back together at the NPHS MTB Team Training camp last weekend. Rode with some of my kids from last season' training group. Found the old road.
