#Why?
Rationale, in short, here are the reasons I use the selected list of social media platforms above, which are mainly decentralized, with exception of Youtube, Dailymotion, Tumblr, Snapchat which are centralized, while Signal is non-profit:
1) Cancel Culture Is Futile in Decentralized Platforms:
Decentralized platforms have multiple different owner independent servers (so if one owner does not like your post you use another owner's server without losing account). In centralized social media platforms with one sole company owning all servers (if one owner company does not like your post they deplatform you, you lose account). Decentralized social media when posts are marked as potentially harmful or spam, then they get reviewed by randomly selected users so user's posts get fair review unlike social media centralized platforms where a handful of company employees decide what to do with flagged posts.
2) Decentralized platforms are more secure from hackers:
As decentralized social media servers are multi-owners i.e. run separately, they are harder for hackers to hack into unlike centralized social media servers which though spread worldwide are easier to attack as they are all centralized connected.
3) Decentralized platforms in Fediverse can cross-talk like email services:
Decentralized social media platforms in Fediverse, can cross-talk with each other unlike centralized social media platforms, its similar to how you can send emails between different email providers like Gmail etc to Protonmail etc, and vice-versa.
4) Decentralized platform codes are usually open source in public domain unlike centralized platforms' codes. Example Twitter code is not available in public domain but Mastodon code is available in public domain. As its in public domain many programmers are constantly coding and checking the code, which makes it more secure and growth innovation is higher. Example: how Netflix got recommendation system code developed by open source public domain competition between volunteer programmers.
Rationale details for not using
#tiktok #facebook #linkedin #twitter #x #whatsapp #skype can be found here, where I provided citations (articles+podcasts+videos) for points I made (1 to 4 above) about decentralized social media platforms, including work by #JackDorsey (founder of Twitter and others) a forerunner of decentralized social media #bluesky.

Rationale for not using #minds is that it does not show posts without login and also limits number of hashtags to just 5. Probably paid plan has more options but not giving these basic features in free plan makes them noncompetitive so I will keep my #minds account static and will not post from it in future.
