Snowy Plover must be very popular to have so many bands; it’s like a kid who just discovered jewelry and wants to wear it all, all at once. #naturephotography #birds #birders #birdwatchers #birdwatching #naturephotos #PointReyes #BirdsOfPixelfed #SnowyPlover
Urban Snowy Plover

A Snowy Plover dashes around on an urban beach. Just think of all the people in those houses, tragically unaware of the threatened little fluffballs living on the beach right next door 😭.

If you spend any time looking for advice on shorebird photography, you'll hear it over and over: "don't chase, just find a [safe] spot on the beach and wait for them to come to you." I've tried it over and over, and it's never really worked. I'll plop down on the beach, watch the birds

Snowy Plover Time

The cold water saturating the sand had soaked through three layers of clothing. My pockets were filled with sand from army crawling on the beach, and my lens was making a worrisome grinding noise every time I zoomed. My hands were getting numb, and I was grinning ear to ear because shorebird season was well

It's like #snowyplover on the #beach, not weird, just f***ing cute-iful. Hundreds of these little guys along the #ventura #california coastline in areas where their habitats are #protected from trampling. They nest directly on the sand, making their nests very susceptible to human activity. Definitely one of the most adorable beach birds around these parts.

It’s plover season! These little guys come out to nest south of me on the beach as they start putting up the signs and fences. Hopefully the recent weather didn’t spoil their cycle.
