I think the app to go is currently #Monal by @Monal .

The Monal team is preparing a big update (fresh UI, Reactions, ...) at the moment. It will take some months to complete it but the current version is also very good.

#Snikket iOS is currently based on #SiskinIM .

Hello to all #XMPP folks in the fediverse. I need some #fedihelp from the community. One of my users on the XMPP server is an iPhone user. She was using #SiskinIM up to now. Now when she opens #Siskin, it is completely empty, no chats, no contacts, nothing. My question now is, what is in the moment the app to go with under iOS? I heard a lot about #Monal in the past, what about #snikket ?

@cyntheon I started my debian homelab with #jellyfin (running as a system service) combined with #tailscsle. then I added #immich and initially opted for #podman. Then I later added #nextcloud which necessitates the need for https tls certs, hence #tsdproxy. Also, I had issues running nextcloud with podman and that's when I just decided to go with docker. I'm also running #snikket via docker container also. A fairly modest home server, but it handles the essentials for me and my family.

I'm testing #xmpp with #snikket today. It was straight forward to install the server. Like 10minutes. I was very impressed!!

But then the problem started… with #encryption key managment problem.

Basically I wanted to write to a #quicksy user (aka myself) and that didn't work because of some 'Aucun appareil pour qui chiffrer ce message n'a été trouvé. Recherche d'appareils en cours…'

I know that there is a lot of work to improve the situation. I'm open to report bugs, but I have no idea if it should be done in snikket, quicksy, gajim, kaidan …

As a happy long time #xmpp user I say xmpp. 🙂
#prosody based #snikket sounds perfect for the garden use case. For really big groups (city) you might prefer to host an #ejabberd. Of course usage characteristics matter more than sheer number of participants.

Nuevo server uruguayo de mensajería XMPP.

Si bien está funcionando desde el 1 de noviembre, es la primera vez que le "doy pa delante" aquí, ya que considero que está lo suficientemente "maduro" como para dejarlo crecer.
