♻️ [Snap] flaresolverr-tak updated

Added support of ARM64 architecture
Switched from Chrome .deb to Snap Chromium

Still no guarantee of running, especially on headless boards, as no X11 special authorization offered by Snapcraft ('Xvfb' error might popup at launch).

Looks like the #snapstore is back online. My website update has now gone through! #ppa repos are still unavailable though.

I've spent some time on an example project that shows how to use GitHub workflows to fully handle #snapcraft publishing.

Anything that builds, passes tests is published to the edge channel of the latest track.

Anything that is tagged similarly goes to latest/candidate

A manual dispatch promotes releases from latest/candidate to latest/stable.

You can grab the workflow from https://github.com/zyga/hello-rust

My system is now crashing too frequently (this crash caused my system to freeze, before going to a black page with several @ signs, before then going to the login page, which didn't allow me to log in, just getting stuck there, so I had to hold the power button down for 10 seconds) every time my system crashes, a Snap package updates immediately afterwards, which is very suspicious (on the last crash, Firefox updated immediately upon reboot) I have always hated snaps, due to them being closed source software, and due to them having auto-update, but have had to live with them, due to how embedded they are into Ubuntu. If I can just find a proper replacement for the Firefox snap, I should be good. I will be trying to remove any snap package I can find that is replaceable, and replace it with a Debian package, although this process will take time.

The #canonical #craft ecosystem is interesting. Learning from #nix to produce a concise artifacts.

What makes it different is targets are based on which craft you use. Like if you want an app, then #snapcraft is likely it. But #debcraft is a new one to target debs directly. Or say #imagecraft which creates an os image.

In nix you target all the things with the same language. But I think this approach of target based tooling makes sense as well. 😅

What makes a craft

If you’ve ever built a snap with Snapcraft or a rock with Rockcraft, you’ve likely engaged with the documentation and forums along your path to a working artifact. We put a lot of time into providing means for developers to learn how to package their software. But we’ve put comparatively little time into describing the structure of the craft apps themselves. In this post, I’d like to shed some light on the philosophy across the growing list of Canonical packaging tools, including Snapcraft, Cha...

I made a thing that shows new apps and updates in the #Ubuntu #Linux #Snapcraft store. Updates hourly or so. Handy if you wanna see what's new. Has RSS too for retro feels. Probably has bugs. snapupdates.popey.com/
