Little house on the lava fields, Iceland.

It sits on young lava from the ice capped Snæfellsjökull which is seen in the background, behind the house. The jökull in its name means glacier, indicating the glacier that is perched atop the volcano.

"The 700,000 year old stratovolcano with a glacier on its summit is one of the most famous sites of Iceland.

This is primarily due to the novel "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" (1864) by French author Jules Verne, in which the protagonists find the entrance to a passage leading to the centre of the earth on Snæfellsjökull."

There may not be the sea monsters Jules Verne describes in "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" but it’s easy to see why he chose this place as the setting in his famous novel.
