I previously read Le Carre’s The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and found it way too grim. My experience with spy fiction is limited aside from that. Not as good as some of the others in the series. I got the feeling that Herron may be getting tired. Yes, it does have the usual characters and Lamb seems to be more obnoxious that usual.
