@tsherrygeo @ai6yr Screen doors: slots cut into sheet metal (or mesh) can work well as an antennas. It makes no sense - you'd think the metal would act like a short but it doesn't.

A horizontal slot radiates a vertically polarized signal. There was an article in QST about someone in a antenna-restricted neighbourhood who used a jigsaw to cut a slot into a satellite TV antenna for use as a 2m antenna. Worked well and was pretty much invisible.
