Not that we need more reasons to hate car companies, but did you know that Volkswagen USED SLAVE LABOUR IN THE 80S AND STILL DENIES THIS?

@Hotznplotzn Utterly unsurprising, tbqh. Of course they do...
Also good opportunity to point out that Target is exactly the same supply chain and parent company. The only difference (literally) is the sign over the entrance. #Target #Kmart #SlaveLabour #NotesFromADyingCulture

Chaldean Slaves (1893)
We don’t really know exactly where Chaldea was, still less how they or their slaves dressed, and the text accompanying this illustration in Redpath’s book was not relevant to it. I doubt we know whether female slaves did this work of grinding wheat or other grains to make flour or meal.
But it’s an illustration of slave labour.

Nope. Trump has already floated the trial-balloon of renting out detainees as labour, plus the 13th Amendment in their constitution actually permits slavery for incarcerated persons, so they have their legal loophole.
You watch: once the camps are all set up the next move for the administration to say: “Welp, it’s only fair that all these illegals should have to contribute to the cost of their upkeep” and for the prison-industrial complex to start leasing detainees back to the farms, motels and Home Depots that they scooped them up from, for a tidy profit of course.
This is the intersection where end-stage capitalism meets white supremacy. Corporations despise paying for labour, since it represents one of their biggest line-items, and you can’t get cheaper than free (or nearly free).
Whatever can’t be automated will be replaced by slave labour, and the neat thing about prison labour is that anyone can be turned into a criminal with the simple stroke of a pen.

#US-UK #trade deal may open door to food made with slave labour
#UK Govt facing pressure to strengthen anti-slavery laws amid concerns its #TradeDeal with US could see #food produced by forced labour enter UK market
Lack of transparency in #US supply chain & poor enforcement of anti-slavery law in UK, raise fears #meat produced using forced labour could enter #British #supermarkets – as was recently found to happened with #China-produced tomatoes
One of the most meticulously crafted noise-reissues I've seen is the Slave Labour – Vol. I and II 4xCD box by Dada Drumming. In addition to the excellent noise – a collaboration between Lingula (David Gilden & Richard Ramirez) and Macronympha – there is a lot of explicit content, both in text and imagery, in this box.

@rl_dane @nlarson830 #Zuck's #NSAbook are top donors to #Trump, so they'd get away with anything.
After all, the #ForProfitPrisons & #PrisonIndustry in the #USA are well-known to sell labour to corporations cheaper than any callcenter in #India!

#SA became not just a society in which some people were #slaves, but a fully-fledged #slavesociety…the institution of #slavery touched all aspects of life, as slavery was central to the social, economic and legal institutions. As the boundaries of the Cape Colony expanded…slaves were put to work on the #wine and #wheat farms of the south-western Cape…the #colonial economy could not function without the use of #slavelabour, and therefore slave-ownership was widespread.
A bunch of scummy companies lieing to consumers about their safety.
I knew #Nissan for years threw away reports of dangerous faults in Nissan vehicles.
And that #VW lied about emissions.
Maybe trusting companies that grew with Nazi and Japanese #SlaveLabour during WWII was never a good idea?
Or is it that modern corporations are becoming and more fascist and put #ProfitsBeforePeople.
Destruction of #Trust
